Topics
The submissions to the PIKM 2012 should propose research ideas that can mature into a dissertation. The authors could be Ph.D. students or Masters students aspiring to get a Ph.D. having in mind a clear idea of a proposal. Students could also submit work on one or more sub-problems of their dissertation. The papers should address the research issues in their proposal focusing on the challenges in solving them. They could also include the proposed techniques to solve the given problems. Preliminary experimental evaluation should be included. However, it should be clear that the work is ongoing. A wide range of topics on any area in databases, information retrieval and knowledge management can be presented at this workshop. The areas of interest of the PIKM workshop are the same as stated in the Call for papers at the CIKM main conference.Camera-Ready Instructions
Camera-ready full papers have a limit of 8 pages and poster papers a limit of 4 pages. The graduate student should be the first author on the paper, with other authors permitted. All PIKM 2012 workshop proceedings will be printed on CD together with the main CIKM proceedings. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register for the PIKM workshop by the early registration deadline in order for their paper to be included in the proceedings. Please submit your camera-ready paper on or before August 26, 2012. This is a hard deadline and whatever paper has not been received by that time will not be included in the proceedings. Please follow these instructions for your camera-ready paper:http://www.sheridanprinting.com/typedept/cikm1.htm
Every paper should be presented physically at the workshop by one of its authors. Full papers should be presented in a slideshow presentation of 30 minutes, including discussion. Presenters should bring their presentation on a memory stick and give it to the session chair before the start of the session. Poster papers should be presented in the form of a printed poster. There will be poster boards of 2 meter x 1 meter, so the suggested format is A0 portrait or A1 portrait.
