This workshop is the fifth in a series of annual meetings organized by the Graduate Research Center "3-D Image Analysis and Synthesis" and the SFB 603 "Model-based Analysis and Visualization of Complex Scenes and Sensor Data" at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Three of these meetings were held in Erlangen, one previous meeting was held in Alpbach, Austria. In 2000, the meeting is for the first time jointly organized with the newly established Computer Graphics Group at the Max-Planck-Institut für Informatik, Saarbrücken, Germany. The program will consist of invited talks by internationally renowned speakers, as well as contributed papers.

The conference dinner is included in the registration fee, and will take place on Thursday 23rd in the rooms of the Château-style Restaurant Schloss Halberg in Saarbrücken. We will arrange for a bus shuttle service from the conference place (and the conference hotels) to the restaurant and back.
In Schloss Halberg, the participants will be offered a Gourmet buffet inclusing many different delicious dishes. You will have the opportunity to meet your fellow participants in a very nice and relaxed atmosphere.
We have arranged special prices for participants of the VMV2000 with the following hotels:

To get to the Max-Planck Institut by bus from the Hotel Madeleine and the Hotel Continental get on bus line 11 in direction Dudweiler Dudoplatz at the bus stop Rathaus, or take bus line 49 in direction Dudweiler Dudoplatz at the bus stop Haus der Zukunft.
Note: The bus stop Rathaus is located in a one way street. Therefore, when driving from the university to town the bus does not take exactly the same route. The bus stop corresponding to Rathaus is called Johanneskirche and is located very near the Hotel Madeleine.
If you're staying at the Hotel am Triller catch the bus number 37 at bus stop Schlossplatz in direction Rathaus, but get off at Hansahaus and catch bus line 11 in direction Dudweiler Dudoplatz.
The bus stop nearest to the Max-Planck Institut is called Mensa. After getting off, cross the road and continue downhill. The Max-Planck Institut is the third building on the left.
