Seminar: Computer Vision and Visual Special Effects (CV & VFX) – Summer Semester 2009

This seminar covers advanced topics in the field of computer vision and computer graphics, e.g.,

  • How to generate visual special effects
  • How to find and classify objects in images
  • How to retrieve 3D information from video
  • How to synthesis missing parts of an image
  • How to render images in real-time

The target audience are students in computer science or related fields. Basic knowledge about 3D geometry, image processing, and computer graphics are required. The "making of" numerous visual special effect of major motion pictures will be explained and discussed. Furthermore, every participant will give a talk on a chosen scientific publication. Afterwards, the publication will be discussed within the seminar group. This is a great opportunity for students to improve their research and presentation skills and to learn about the latest developments in computer vision and computer graphics. The seminar language is English.
