Explore the new AZERTY keyboard

We participated in a national-scale effort at redesigning and standardizing the special-character layout of AZERTY with the aid of combinatorial optimization. There are competing views on what makes a good keyboard layout: familiarity or user performance, expanded character sets vs. discoverability, and support for everyday language vs. programming vs. regional dialects.

A new standard is born
In April 2019, the French standardization department (AFNOR) presented the improved AZERTY keyboard as an official standard.
